From the recent trip to Blue Cypress Lake, lots of ospreys nesting and season is just starting. For most of these birds you need to catch them at the perfect sun angle for even lighting under the wings, keeper rate is very low ! Female returning to the nest.

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

wonderful image, is it feasible to use a flash to light the wings, or are there to many variables involved.
    Thanks for sharing.

Great catch, another bird in flight shot that I do not have yet. Looking forward to getting one.
Al, on the upper wing tip, I noticed the white line on the edges, could it be from the sharpening effect?
I noticed that on some of my eagle shots as well sometimes when against blue sky. Does anyone else find this common?

Hi Troy I think its just the way they look against the sky, only sharpened the head area !!

Hi Craig Flash would not reach, particularly with high shutter speeds, would be nice !!

Obviously I'm not qualified for image critique, but for me this one is perfect.
I think we all want to take better and better images...just one question...Mr Forns...it is something that you wanted to be better/different in this image?:)

Hi Ovidiu Change for me would be the time the image was taken, a little earlier the sun would have been lower and softer given even better underwing tones !!! These birds need some light to be active since they fish, so when the light is perfect they are not flying !

btw some of the best images are made at the beach since the sand reflects the sun back to the bird !!

Obviously a great image for all the reason listed above. I too wonder about the white artifact around the feather tips of the upper wing. It is not due sharpening. It seems be an atrifact from light coming around the fine edges. I would like to know how avoid it.

    Thanks:)
    Ray
