Default Osprey Coming in For a Landing

There's a nesting pair of Osprey on the east end of the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve. I couldn't resist a few shots while on my morning paddle. 40D, Bigma @ 500mm, handheld from the kayak, iso 400, f/9.0, 1/1250. RAW conversion via CS3 and included a bump in Sat, Vibrance and Clarity. Selective sharpening on bird in Photo Shop plus removal of the tip of the perch where the bird was preparing to land at the very bottom of the frame.

awesome job, bob! i love that in your face pose and wing position. i'm wondering what this would look like with the bird moved higher in the frame. IAC, great job!

Great composure and moment in time. Great detail and eye contact. I have a question for the experts out there. What is the cause of the dark blue halo around the feathers on the wing tips and how do you avoid it? or am I seeing things.

    Thanks Ray
