I was out Saturday to a place I had not been before, Clay Island, on Lake Apopka, FL. After a looooong walk with equipment, as in 4 miles:eek:, we got some great barred owl photo opportunities. I was tired at the end of the day but was thrilled with the results! Taken with the D300 and Nikon 500 f/4, f/7.1, iso 800, 1/1250 on Feisol CT 3371 tripod with full Wimberley head.
Beautiful photo. Could not have gotten a better perch if you had planned this.
Love the perch, the eye contact, the detail in the feathers and talons. The tilt of the head accents the perch angle. The soft background is a plus as well.
Hi Nancy,
Lots of color in this guy. Good exposure and focus with nice BG. I like the fact that you can also see the feet as most times they roost so that the lower feathers on the belly cover them. Seems a bit more cinnamon colored than our Barred Owls here in British Columbia.
