    Default Rufous Hummer

D3 200f2 + TC17EII (340mm) f/8 1/1250 ISO 1000 +0.3EV Matrix Manual focus (w AF assist) & handheld. Minor detail work and BG selective color, sharpening. Bright light nearing sunset (no flash). Hovering off feeder.

Had some fun shooting Anna's and Rufous hummers off a relative's feeder... maybe an Allen's. Good weight training ;) ...

    Thanks for looking, commenting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Excellent capture Michael, good tech settings and like the lens your using ... those f 2.0 seem to focus well even with the converters btw a 300 would be ideal for this type !!

Might move the bird down and left to get him out of the center !! I enjoy these probably even more than the spectacular looking multiple flash setups !!

Well done Michael - nice job without the use of flash - BG sets the little guy off well.
Agree on moving him out of the centre a little.
    Nice work!

    Alfred, Lance, Dave, Harold, Oscar,

Greetings. Thanks much for the comments (will re-compose)... On the BG, I finally found the right angle and with the Rufous (not with an Anna's) I can (& did) use a Selective Color adjustment to add blue to the green for some color contrast.

Thanks again for the encouraging comments...

    Cheers,

    -Michael-
