Default Great Horned Owl - Mom

Looks like studio shot. This is another nest, it was on a telephone pole, with lots of wire all around it. So I did a tight crop. She was jumping from the nest to a stump.

Hi Troy, Nice wing spread and I'm assuming the reddish light is either late or early. When you have an image with a backround that is almost white I recommend putting a 1 or2 pixel black border around it. Since I can just make it out I would suggest a bit more room in front of the bird...

Wow, wish I had a shot like that ! Do think a bit more room at the lower right bottom would be better. For the reason that I have very slim chances of getting shot like this, this image to me is great !!

    Dave,
My bad. It was taken at 7.31pm, sun almost set, thus the real golden light.
I crop a bit tight due to the stump on the bottom corner. I guess I can do that and clone it out a bit or add some more space, it will give a sense of the bird landing.
    Thank you.

    Desmond,
Never say never. 8 months ago, I never thought I would be able to get a picture of an eagle, or owl. Keep trying, it will happen for you.

    Dave,

Took your advise, put a border to make it easier to see plus added more room on bottom right corner. Thank you.

Hi Troy Sweet shot btw I think Dave was talking about a very thin line around it .. just a couple of pixels makes it look elegant !!! This much might compete with the bird !! .... could you give location? btw our little owls are not from Cape Coral, they are from Brian Piccolo Park, lots of nest in the park, like it even more than CC !!

This shot was taken 3 weeks ago, the youngs already fledged, this from from Ruskin. I always found out about these nests too late.
I have played softball many times at Brian Piccolo Park, I see markers everywhere, but never saw one came out. Are they there year round? If so, next time I am there, I would bring my camera. ;)
I will keep the frame in mind, went a little overboard.
    Thanks.

Troy the birds are there right now and starting to breed, not sure when chicks will hatch. If I find out will post and let you know.

Next time I go over will ask about if they are there all year around. I think weekdays would be best, just been over one time and the park was empty .. lots of rain.

Al, thanks. I will make it down to Cape Coral soon, it is closer, and this is one of the owls I would like to photograph.
