Photographed in the Masai Mara in January, late morning so the white feathers at the back lacked detail. I used a reverse S curve on them and then a slight amount of the burn tool to bring back the detail in the feathers. Any comments welcomed.

    Hilary:

Nice that you were able to bring back some of the detail in the whites. The light was already pretty harsh based on shadows, so this bird(white and very dark feathers) was going to be a challenge, esp. with the light angle here. A little bit more over your shoulder would have lit the bird more evenly.

    Quite a proud looking bird.

    Thanks for sharing.

Agree with Randy nice work on bringing out details from the whites. A very cool bird and good sharpnes.
I which for a lower angel.
    Keep them coming.

As mentioned, good recovery on the whites...but ideally the light angle would have come from directly behind you and from earlier or later in the day. I agree with a lower angle, but realize it not always possible. A couple of the dark spots in the BG could be eliminated (especially directly above the face). Good walking pose...quite the strutter!! I can also get a sense of what may have been quite warm and dry conditions:cool:
