    I like the low angle you got here, and this has resuted in adequate separation from the BG. You could tone down the highlighted branches above the grouse's back. I'd selectively add another round of sharpening to the face and neck (BTW critical focus seems to be on the wing and flank beneath it). Comp seems tight...if this is cropped I'd add back some canvas above, and a tiny bit below.

    This is indeed a beautiful specimen...and at 118mm, looks like it was quite tame too (it seems like there is no middle ground for this species...they either flush abruptly, or approach too closely!! - thank goodness for the zoom, eh!:p)

    Great job of getting this close. I like the inclusion of the habitat as it demonstrates how these birds coloration is ideal camouflage . Daniel provided some good comments. More room at the bottom (if you have it) would be beneficial. Thanks for sharing.
