    Default Woodlands Kingfisher

Another image from our trip in December 2009 to the northern section of the Kruger National Park. The woodlands kingfisher (Halcyon Senegalensis) is a migrant to South Africa in our summers - and a beautiful bird.

    Morkel:

Very nice little fellow, well composed, sharp, well exposed. Nice BG and catchlight too.

The perch is more massive than ideal for me, but the angle of it helps.

    Cheers

    Randy

Wow, what a lovely KF. The low light, green BG, and perfect exposure make this very nice. I might try and lighten the BG a tad... just a personal preferance. I agree with Randy about the perch being a bit overpowering. I love the blue color of the feathers.

Beautiful bird, nice detail in the capture. Like the head turn toward you. The perch is big but it seems like a natural choice for a KF to me. If mine, I'd dull the vibrancy/sat of the green BG just a bit.
