    Looks like an incredibly arid environment. I like the couple of small blades of grass and vegetation poking out in front of the bird. Good separation of the bird from the environment, despite similar colors.

    If it were mine, I might do some subtle vignetting of the upper corners of background, just to pull our attention more towards the bird.

    To do the subtle vignetting in the the repost, I did an adjustment layer (curves), pulled down the curve corresponding to the luminosity of the rocks in the upper corners. This made the bulk of the image too dark, so I filled the layer with black, used the paint brush set on 20% opacity to paint with white in the corners of the mask to reveal the effect of the curves adjustment there, while leaving the rest of the image as you originally posted.

    Nothing special, but I think it helps keep the viewer's eye on the bird more.

    congrats on this one, nice looking bird. Randy covered it well. The white wash under the leg catches my eye.
