    Troy,

The composition is not my favorite, cut wings and dark eye. Every picture has it's strong and weal points. IMO, this one needs some work, but that's me - TFS.

Thanks, Jeff. I kept this image even though with cut wings because of its unusual position. ;) I like the the expression.

It is always nice if the entire bird is in the photo, but I have to say I would keep this one too. I like the composition. There is a nice triangular shape made by the wings and I like the darker green background above the bird with the lighter below. I would like to see the eye lighten a little. Really nice light on the bird. Just a warning - I tend to like images that break the rules.

Thank you Elsa, it is an unusual shot. ;)

Unusual and would keep, Like to see the owl with less room behind and can lighten the top of the head a bit. It is sharp and well exposed !!

... remember to leave some comment on others, the only way to help our community and we all learn !!!

I like the head position and how much light is on the underside ... not an easy thing to accomplish.

BTW ... how do you guys get these owl shots?

I don't know anyone who spends as much time in the outdoors as I do and I never see an owl (actually, I have NEVER seen an owl) during the day let alone have the opportunity to get a shot like this one. I am jealous. Well done.

The funny part I was on the property photographing ducks one day and they called me as I was nearby. I used a call on my iPhone to get them out. It is ok to call them out in FL for photography reasons, but other states might have different laws.
They are fun, the other pair that I know actually is friendlier, and will come down near your call and look at it.

The dark eye, cut wings and awkward composition make it a delete for me.
