Captured this photo at Venice rookery last week. This pair was working on a nest. I know the BG is busy, but it is what it is. Comments and suggestions greatly appreciated.

Dave, neat birds for sure. Like you stated the BG, is a challenge here, maybe a better angle to the right might have a greater impact on the viewer. Eye sharpness a plus! Natural habitat for sure.

You are probably right, but there were two other photographers that had that angle. I was trying to be a good guy.

Love these birds! They used to nest in a tree just opposite the room where we had classes years ago, and whenever the teachers left, I used to run along to the window for a view. That was a few years ago..
Saw one of these herons a long time after, last Friday.. and now your great picture.... :)

I agree, the background here distracts a bit, especially since the twig that tells the story of the nesting is getting lost! Do you have any more versions where the twig is more prominent? It'd be interesting to see if they seem better... Thanxalot for sharing!

For sure Dave, no worries. This is a very good point, as the CC's are done from here, with very little idea of the "Real-World" challenges. TFS Should have booted the other guys out!! Just kiddding!:D

The thought crossed my mind, but there were ladies and children present. HA! HA!

Thank you, they are great birds to observe, but challengin6 to photograph. I usually see them along the edge on a mangrove in the shadows. I was just very glad to see them in the sun. I got a few pictures of individual birds, but this was only pic where you could see both faces and eyes.:D

Sure, great image of the pair you've here!
Ive seen them in more of an urban setting, the tree i spoke of was in a road divider in the middle of a busy road!
The recent view, however, was different...

The difficulty is apparent here, esp since i only had 300mm to play with!
