    Default Heading North

These Tundra Swans were at Middle Creek on their way north last month. In case you are not familiar with the species, their sound is quite remarkable: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Tundra_Swan/sounds

    1D4, 500f4, 1.4x, 1/1600s, f/8, ISO 400, manual exposure

I did a double take on this, since you were posting Snow Geese :(
Thinking they looked kind of long necked...
Love the synch flight and high key.
The one with the yellow lores is the male?
Thanks for posting the sounds. My cats loved it.

Thanks, Fabs! I'm happy to entertain your cats. :) Usually, both male and female Tundra Swans have yellow lores. I guess the one on the left is an exception to the rule.

Wonderful flight shot. I like them both having the same wing position. I might darken the left wings a tiny bit.

Thanks, Don! There are usually a couple of thousand at Middle Creek, too, I really like their sound.

I made this around noon and didn't mind the clouds, I like high key with white birds. :)

Never seen these in person, but I always like seeing images of them.

Perfect exposure, great soft light, low contrast.

Love the position of the two together.

Thanks, Jim! I had not seem them, either, before moving to PA. Middle Creek is definitely worth a trip, there were about 4,000 Tundra Swans and 120,000 Snow Geese this spring.
