    Default More Bird Fight !!!

    Attached Images Attached Images

From the recent rumble at Green Cay Flicker and Starling going at it !!! Flickers put up a good fight but way many starlings, outcome was obvious. Sorry to see them evicted.

    Alfred:

Great story telling with this image. Really looks like the starling has him by the bill.

The right wing on the trunk looks a bit odd, perhaps just motion blur, but the image is strong enough to stand on its own!

I not sure I would argue with a bird with the pecking power of a flicker. It could be lethal if he got a couple of good shots in.

    Cheers

    Randy

Hi Randy The flicker did get some blows to the starlings head ... looked solid !! Also you could see lots of feathers flying through the air !! .. I'm sure the wing is motion blur those guys were fast :)

This looks like part 2 after the image Fabs posted. Great capture of this interaction, this little starling looks pretty determined. I guess he was good in his self defense course. :)

Wow, Alfred. I haven't seen that much fighting action since I left my teaching job in public school. Too bad the starlings didn't lose the battle. Great timing getting the foot around the beak. Ouch!!!

I think I recognise this action Al! Absolutely outstanding capture of what happened. I know who I'm rooting for by the way! I particularly like the flared wings of the flicker.

Al, you got the best shot of the whole series I have seen so far from the ones posted on here. The angle and showing both birds. Well done.

    Love it!!
The combination of sharp detail and motion blur puts this way over the top of static images.

Sometimes less can be more ;) ...shutter speed.

    Best,

    Chas

Awesome action. The Starling grabbing the woodpeckers head is awesome. I like the motion blur in the wings.

Al great capture here. This really tells the story of the conflict that you Fabs and Judy witnessed. Too bad that the flicker pair lost.
