    Default another common bird

This is a common bird in New Brunswick and indeed in North America as a whole- the Common Grackle, Quiscalus quiscula. The species occurs in several forms including interior, coastal and Florida versions (see Sibley). This is the coastal form, which although showing lots of bronze on the body, has a more mutlicoloured back and wings than the bronzed interior form.

I followed this bird down into the cattails where it disappeared. When I looked up it had flown and perched on a small branch with what I think is a nice BG of distant trees, still with no leaves.

    I cropped and sharpened.

Excellent quality, love the details and sharpness. perch is nice too, doesn't really get better than this for a perched bird. TFS

Pretty neat, I particularly like the iridescence, good sharpness and eye contact, too.

Very nice. The soft light really brings out the detail and the color variations in the bird.

This is nice. Grackles in the right light are marvelous. Great colors both on the bird and with the BG. Simplicity at its best. Well done.

John, gorgeous image. Like the colours, the eye and the BG. We don't get grackles here and I'm always taken by the beauty of these birds.

I've always found that grackles have a "mean" and serious look to them, and this image is no exception! They do have a mean streak at feeders though! Awesome colours, and I like the thin perch.

Splendid exposure. Captured the irridesence, and complicated tonal range in the various values; i.e. well done on the Ev's. Good pose, nice eye contact: BG is a compliment as it is in direct opposition to the tones in the bird. Good one. ;);)
