Taken this morning. It is the first one that I have seen this year and we are in hopes that they will build a nest and they will have the joy of seeing the babies.

This is an image that I always wanted. This is always the image that I see when someone mentions "Least Bittern". The perfect amount of habitat and yet a clear view of the bird. Well done.

This a great shot. The light looks perfect and you controlled it well with the exposure. The composition is pleasing too such is the pose of the bird. Seems like you nailed every aspect of the shot. I'd be proud of this one for sure! :)

Fantastic shot with great light, beautiful colors in the BG and the green stems. I like the spread legs.

Good one. I don't even have images of the common bittern, let alone the least. Well done here; only thing I might suggest would be to eliminate the shoddowy reed in the BG. ;)

Nice pose. Would like to see a little bit more DOF to render the body sharper (maybe even part the the legs). Did you find this one in Wakodahatchee?

This morning I had the same kind of bird but it was impossible to photograph because of too many branches.
I was very frustrated. Great work on this one.

Beautiful composition, comadre and excellent EXP control. I'd agree with Clemens on wanting a smaller aperture for more depth of field.

Yes Clemens this was taken at Wakodahatchee , I believe they have just returned to the area recently as it is the first I have seen there. Thanks for taking time to comment.

Agree with all of the above - beautiful image. What everybody else has failed to mention, Judy Lynn, is how easy it is to photograph bitterns with the new Nikon D33.

Very nice color and I really like the way the bittern is perched in the reeds.

Ditto on "this is an image I always wanted" this is one tough bird to get see, let alone out in the open like this....wonderful capture, colors, comp...face, neck and front leg sharp..to bad about the other leg.
Good luck with this bird hope he sticks around

This is awesome!!! A little bit more DOF could have been even better but still a stuniing image!!
