    Default Proud Spoonie

    Good day all:

Just back from Florida. Had the good fortune to go out with Capt. James for a day of spoonies on Tampa Bay.

I thought the BG here gave it a bit of a different feel from many of the spoonie images I have seen.

    D300 500mm F/4 @ f/5.6 1.4 TC 1/1000s ISO 250 Kneeling in water with Gitzo and Wimberley.
Light angle was off to my right a bit, so some shading, but I think it works to round the bird out a bit.

    Post:

PS CS4 curves, localized sharpening, minor crop to decenter bird a bit

    Advice always appreciated.

    Cheers

    Randy

Lovely image, Randy. I never tire of these guys. To my taste, he is a little crowded in the frame. I'd like a little more space to the left and right. Also, the short feathers on the neck seem hot. Probably the best that can be done with the ambient lighting.

Beautiful shot with very nice color. Nice and sharp. The background gives it a good feel to the environment he/she was in. like it a lot. Glad you made it back safe!

Stunning portrait, Randy. I wouldn't touch a thing. Spoonie well exposed, sharp, and great colours (and NOT oversaturated, as a lot of these images can be at this time of year, with great colours, and a bit too much help in PS/LR). I like the comp as is. Best for last - love the background. James/Hooptie rock!

Randy, What I like most about this is the beautiful colors of the bird against the lovely soft BG colors. The sweet pose and details make this special.:)

Beautiful pose and lovely composition. I like the flag like BG and the subtle breeding colors. If this were mine, I'd multiply the lighter pinks on the top of the bird.
Hooptie Deux is always a sensory overload :)

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

Fabs, I tried the multiply mode on a selection of the back, and it did bring up the pinks very nicely, without seeming heavy handed. Thanks!

Nice shot Randy, I hope to add a shot like this to my portfolio soon.
Is this at the famous Alafia or at Ft. Desoto?
