My long weekend had been cut short for personal reasons, so I decided to try and catch up on my immense backlog of avian images to process. Of late I have been camped out in the Wildlife and Landscape galleries...:o

This was taken on the South African west coast on New Year's Day this year. I had some fun with these plovers and their ultra-adorable chick.

All comments welcome - cropped for composition, this is about 80% of the original image.

hi morkel, i would give it a slight contrast boost and evict the black spot in front of the bird. i like the rocks in the foreground. they are different from what we normally see.

Hi Morkel, I like the improvements you make in the repost and might also crop some off the bottom as I think a bit less of the oof rocks would put more focus on the Plover.

agree with Katie on too much foreground. The repost without the black spot looks better already.
Glad to see you back to Avian.

    Good job on the plover.
I like the low angle perspective and feather detail. Ditto on the crop.

Hi Mork, lovely weather we are having over the weekend :o I like the angle here, together with the DOF effect. Your repost looks great, and agree taking off the bottom wont harm this. Maybe lighten the eye a tad.
