This sparrow pair managed to take over one of the five holes that a red-bellied woodpecker had been working on. They have been carrying in nesting material all weekend so I broke down some tiny twigs and left them at the base of the tree to hurry things along. :)
Biologically I can't help but dislike seeing a native species like the Red-bellied Woodpecker get bullied around by a bird that shouldn't even be in North America (House Sparrow). Really interesting image with the two holes!
