    Keeping with the recent egret trend, a Great Egret coming in for touch-down at the rookery, Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve, Beaufort, North Carolina.

    Hand-held, from a kayak, 40D, Bigma @500mm, iso 500, f/8.0, 1/2500, +.33. RAW conversion via CS3, Photoshop includes selective sharpening, noise reduction, a touch of Shadow/highlight on brighter areas of the bird.

    Nailed the exposure and light was not bad !! Pose wise we like the wings up/down, seems to add impact to the image. Might try cropping different to keep bird out of center. ... that bird is ready to breed !! PS wise might want to run a soft brush over the bg to smooth out a bit more !!

    Hi bob - agree with AL - lots to like here - as AL mentioned wing position can be important.
