    Default New species for me

A friend took me out to this spot where there was a family of great horned owls. I did not have any of this species so I was thrilled with the opportunity. The setting was not ideal, but overall I like the eye contact and filtered lighting. Taken with the D300 and Nikon 500 f/4 with 1.4TC, iso 800, 1/500, f/8.

    Hi Nancy,
Horned Owls are my favorite bird. Good eye contact and colors on this young one. What is that vegitation that it is roosting in?

I love the bird and like the setting but for the big thing in front of the bird... Maybe a different perspective would have worked...
