What Are These? 2 ID's Needed.

I heard this bird before I saw it. It was perched high on a tree some distance away. This is a 90% crop of the image I was able to get. It sounded like the caw of a crow.



The second bird was also quite a distance away and this is also a 90% crop of the original. It was sitting on the rail of a bridge far from me. I'd like to know what I was seeing. Many thanks for any information.

Hi Milt, the first image is a Common Raven and the second I believe is a male Boat-tailed Grackle.

Milt, if these were taken in Florida then the first image is not Common Raven as their range does not go down there. Most likely an American Crow (since you say it sounded like a crow anyhow:)), or perhaps a Fish Crow.

The last one is not a Boat tailed Grackle. The eyes and tail are not like that, I think he may be a common Grackle.

OOps! Totally right on the grackle, the eye is wrong for boat-tailed! I guess I got both of them wrong!
