    Montgomery Co, TX

    D300s, 600, ISO 320, f7, 1/1000, -0.3EV.

    Here's one for you Woodpecker lovers.
    I don't think I have seen a shot of this species at eye level and on a small diameter tree.
    Got this one last night in late evening light.
    This was a banded bird, and since man put the bands there in the field, man removed the bands in Photoshop ;-)

    Pretty much perfect. Great job with the band removal. Love the BKGR and the skinny tree. Can you sex this species?

    I'm not seeing a red cockade so I suspect it's a female. I photographed a banded male in Florida but haven't had a chance to process the images yet. Nice image Alan!

    Hey Artie, the red "cockade" is not always visible on the male in the field, so I could not tell you the sex of this bird.

    Usually I like skinnier perches but this one has ''character'' and looks fine for me. Very nice sweet light and beautiful bird. TFS
