    These guys are really common in CA now. He is really ugly and even more so with the nictitating membrane over his eye! Small crop, PP'ed in ACR and CS3, sharpened and NR on BG with Noiseware Pro.

    Interesting to see on with the full membrane out. Great detail and colors. I'm sure you know the HA drill :)
    I think it should visit the waxing salon!

    Great details, and exposure. The membrane is neat show behavior and biology, but I for artistic purposes I would prefer an open eye.

    Pretty neat, the colors of the bird look very good as does the BG and I agree that the membrane adds to the image here.

    Dan, I think the membrane looks great here. I like the sharp details and pose. Very well done.

    Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't think they are ugly. Colors in the neck and face are rich and complex. Excellent resolution and detail in the image. Good even tonal range. Well done. ;)

    Dan,
    good detail and colors. I would love to learn your masking techniques sometime for keeping the detail in the hairs while smoothing the background. Very good!
