We had great action for one full day with the flickers !! A pair set up a nest but were evicted by the starlings. Here you see a fight going on with a spectator. This image is close to a full frame just took a bit of the top since the wing was just clipped ... trying to make it deliberate ! Had a tough time trying to follow the action !!

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

Hi Al - love the action - must have been fun to watch. Looks like reinforcements were on standby in case help was needed :)

Hi Arash Actually no .. the camera AF system worked :) When they were by the nest I did try focusing manually and extending the dof but we did have a lot of light !!!

The starlings won hands down and it was not a fair fight. We all got some vicious sequences with one bird grabgin the other by the beak, biting etc Lots of feathers flying around. btw both male and female fought the starlings. Don't like those birds any more !!!

A great action shot, Alfed. In this image it looks as if the Flicker has the upper hand. I love that you caught the yellow under wings.

Al! Have really enjoyed the series and all the stories. The irony is that starlings are getting rarer and rarer over here. I never see them around where I live.
