i'll fall in line with another grackle from the backyard!! i like the idea. hope everyone joins in with the theme!!! i remember as a kid seeing all the sparrows (a VERY common bird) in the yard and never thinking twice about them. but when it snowed, they really shined!! beautiful birds on the snow.

    D300, 300mm at f/4.5, 1/1000s, ISO 1600, +1.7EV, flash fill TTL

Lovely light, I like high key, be it whites or black birds. Flash brought out the iridescence very nicely. Wish we'd have more light for a little extra DOF, but it was really dark. That tongue out is adorable and you lucked out that he didn't close the eye when singing.

Kudos for participating in the project :)

Hi Harold, Really like the perch and pose, have to agree that a bit more DOF would have been nice.

The pose is really good here, the bright BG with dark bird works very well too.
Very nice look at the common species, I like it.

Normally I dont mind shallow DOF when the eye is sharp, but here I'd wish for more to get the chest feathers sharp too. Awesome calling pose, and I like the thin perch with fresh leaves at the tip. IMO a bit of eye work would be good (darkening the pupil, and minimizing the glare of the top half of the eye).

I really like the sharp open beak and tongue! The green leaves add alot and really add pop to the image.

I would add some vignetting correction.

Very sharp where it needs to be.
Good job on catching the singing pose and a really nice job of processing at 1600ISO.
