Default Moonrise Over San Francisco Bay

    Canon 5D Mk2
    Canon 24-70 f/2.8L @ 51mm
    1/6 sec @ f/16
    -2 EV

I took the main image (with the above exposure) and then a second image exposed for the rising moon, then blended in the properly exposed moon in photoshop. I added vibrance in lightroom and a graduated filter effect to darken the sky just a bit to match the foreground. Finally, I added a slight S curve for additional contrast.

Thanks for taking a look - all comments welcome.

HI Hank...lovely colors and nice exposure.....strong mood...You might consider lightening the bottom of the image just a bit and bring out those lovely reflections going on! Looking forward to your next post!

    Hank,

I understand why you darkened the clouds but overall, this has made the image dark. Normally, skies will be brighter then the water reflections. Overall, I would lighten this image. A curves adjustment and pulling up the curve (left and up) at its midpoint should do the trick.

Thanks for the suggestion Robert. I have used a curve adjustment to lighten the image. At the same time, it has added a little more contrast, which I like. I tried to lighten a bit more, but the colors in the clouds really started to wash out. Anyway, here's the redo.

Hi Hank...In my opinion those reflections look great but now the sky is is too bright and the moon- mood is lost. I would darken the sky now just a bit to bring back that mood. No matter what it is one nice image!

Hi hank, Beautiful image! I think somewhere between the two postings would be the right combination...
