Very nice! Although out of your control it would have been nice of M. Vulture to perch cloder to the edge to giver us a better view of his feet!:) Great image all around....
Cracking shot Lee. Amazing posture - and an adult too !
What weather did you have when the bearded vulture landed - was it calm or windy ? I have never had any luck seeing a bearded vulture land on the cliff top. Just wondered under what conditions they do come in to perch on the rocks.
Thank you for taking the time to comment folks,
Daniel that would have been ideal, its a large drop down from there, and i would also not get too close:)
Phil, if i remember correctly it was rather windy that day, i am not sure what the ideal conditions would be as we sat up there for two days to get a 1 landing ( it was a painful wait) they were well aware of our presence the whole weekend, and after his landing he flew away a couple seconds later,
Thanks for the response Lee. I have had more fly bys in windy weather. And landings only rarely - whatever the weather - and never bearded vultures. Only Cape vultures and jackal buzzards and once a very brief Verreaux's eagle. Just a question of patience and luck.
Super image Lee. In an ideal world I would like to have seen the feet.
Regarding weather conditions, im not sure what the ideal would be. One thing I did think of was to crush the bones for the Bearded Vultures to try lure them down. Normally we just throw the bones out without crushing them. As we know the Bearded Vultures like the bone marrow so I know I will give it a good try at crushing the bones when I go again to Giants castle.
