Great pose, colours and detail with the open bill, Stuart. Looks a little tight in frame and the dark vignetting could be backed off a little or masked from the birds legs and wings.
Stuart, Love the Pane 5 image. Your op looks way too harshly processed for my taste. I'd make Pane 5 a true vertical and crop from the right (as viewed), leaving room for the bird to move in to . Very dramatic, nice and sharp, color and detail look nice (in Pane 5)
In the very top right of each comment is a number for that comment.
Lovely image.
I really like how the bird is walking toward the camera with the full wing spread.
I also like a bit off the right on the second photo.
Lots of detail and good for you to get that pose.
Another vote for the repost (pane 5 image;)), although I must admit I also kinda like the dark water of the first one.
P.S. Stuart...notice how every reply has its own number in the top right corner...this is where the "pane 5 image" monicker came about, because it is in reply box #5.
However I can understand what you were trying to do in you first version as the bg is ... distracting. I think you could still accomplish something along the lines of the first version but by masking out part of the vignetting as another member suggested.
What gorgeous action captured in this image and I like the coloring in the repost as it is not quite as vibrant. I also like seeing a bit of the habitat that shows in the repost. Well done and superb timing Stuart.
Am I the only one who likes the original better than the re-post?
Altough the original does look a little processed I think it is a much more dramatic image of the spoonbill.
I would have cropped the right side a bit tighter and left a little more canvas to the left (almost a reverse of what you did). I LOVE the dark vignetting although I know it is a bit too much. Perhaps tone it down a bit.
Your repost (although also a good image) looks too bright IMO and isn't as exciting or dramtic of an image.
If it were mine I'd find a happy median between the two and blow it up large and hang it on my wall.
