    This looks like the front of the bird took the blunt of the flash. I would use a higher ISO just to get a little more shutter speed. The head is sharp and I like the water spray. You might experiment with the flash on that setup to see what illuminates the area best.....then when a bird lands you will have what you desire. Was it a very dark day or is the setup in a low light area?

    This may have also work as a vertical, giving more room at the bottom. Very contrasty as presented, but great action.
