So sharp Ovidiu. Love the perch and the open mouth. Were you feeding him? The only thing I might do is get rid of the leaves touching the head area. Very lovely.

Yes Jackie, I feed them and also have a birdbath in the garden. I use a tray filled with sunflower seeds. When I have time for photos (usualy sundays) I empty the tray and set a small plastic plate on top of a stick inserted into the ground. The plate is about 1 meter above the ground. The plate beeing elevated from the ground they will not spending much time on the ground and will look for perches at same height as the seeds. The plate is small, there is no room for more than two birds feeding at the same time. There is also nothing to perch on near the plate so they hopefully will perch on perches that I set for. This one was about 30 cm close and above the plate and the greenfinch was trying to intimidate another greenfinch that was feeding on the plate. When I'm not taking photos I keep the tray filled with seeds and they feed even 4-5 at same time.
Lance, no I dont have Alan's book. My garden is small and it is hard to find a neat bg, the 70-200mm lens does not help me with this. I use a cloth, painted with water based colors (used for wall painting) using a sprayer. I am still experimenting with colors and mixing them. The cloth is attached to a cardboard, about 1,5x2,5 meters.
Depending on light, sometimes it turns out too bright and then I spray some water on the entire cloth or parts of it. I am constantly providing seed for three years now (photography came after, first with a Canon S5 IS).
Bob, nothing unusual just ps sharpening after resizing.
    Thanks for comments.
