A classic pose. The background is a bit busy but the bird doesn't seem to mind :). It is, after all, their nesting habitat. Some postprocessing as detailed below, plus removal of an OOF American Egret in lower right. I would rather the bill had more contrast against its background -- that is especially noticeable on a print. My principal reason for posting this is to get c&c on the whites. I always struggle with these. Thanks.

HI David,
Appears you had a bit of a shadow on the tail end so the shadow made for some mixed light. My monitor is callibrated.....and the whites do look a tad hot. You didn't mention time of day....but perhaps it was in the brightness you added?
David, liked the pose a lot. What a plumage, huh? I think the white are fine. I tilted my laptop screen( office one. not calibrated) and I can see details in the white. I am wondering if it will look better with a small crop from the left side. Could you have moved a few steps to your right? That might have got him perfectly parallel to the sensor.
Thank you for your comments. I cleaned up the tail shadows and added some OOF light greenery behind the bill to keep it from disappearing. Also changed the crop to lose extra space to the right. I think it is much improved. btw, Date/Time Original : 2010:03:27 07:34:16. Thanks for looking.
