From a few weeks back, this guy was rather cooperative...perhaps the seeds I offered it had something to do with it!:)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @370mm, evaluative metering, aperture priority, 1/500s., f/6.3, ISO 400, no EC, natural light, handheld. Just about full-frame.

Comp works well Dan, with him leaning into the space provided. Good sharp detail on the head and beak, and I like the mixture of colours. Great eye. Well done.

    Hi Daniel,
Know the pose well....very nice/complimentary BG and pose. The legs appear soft...not sure it's DOF....perhaps motion on these little rockets?

Love the alert pose, the diagonal of the tree, and the nice color. DOF is shallow; it would have been nice to get the feet in focus. But overall a very nice image!

Great pose and exposure, I agree a little more depth of field would have been ideal here.

Daniel, to think you did not have to extend the zoom full way....Wow...you must've been really close. close to MFD? Loved the comp and the way the bird is illuminated. Perfect nuthach pose. I usually like shallow DOF.....liking it here too.
