Posted in Avian but didn't get too many comments. So I thought I would try here as their seem to be more critiques. Tried to get good HA's and hopefully the first bird in focus. I tried some other and the front bird was OOF and the second in focus.:(
I think I could have gotten lower but I can't bring myself to lie in guano even on a yoga mat:)
You did get good HA on both of the birds, love the sharpness and the details. Maybe move around a bit for different position of the behind bird in regards to the front, not sure if a little separation might help with even better composition.
I like it, Jackie. Good exposure and composition. Great detail I'm not sure lower would have helped the comp here; I like it as is, but I also agree with Thanaboon that there might have been other options moving to the left.
Hi Jackie, Well seen! I think the birds looking in the oppose directions with similar head angles to be interesting. Both head angles look good to me and to my eyes the front bird is sharp. I like your place of the birds' heads in frame. I find myself wondering how darkening the lighter areas of the back bird would affect the presentation. Thanks for sharing.
i had to study this one for a little bit. i think i got it now. IF, you were to get lower, the heads would have lined up better. i think it's the fact that the back bird's bill doesnt quite line up, it's higher, with the front one making it feel off, to me. the fact you got both head angles proper is awesome!! i do like the feel of the image. soft and kinda moody.
Hi Jackie - First I like the composition with one bird as the mirror image of the other. It is creative and visually appealing. I looked at the image quite a long time, trying to come up with some suggestions. The most I can offer is that perhaps the fact that both swans are looking out of the photo also pulls the viewer out of the image and in two directions?
Quite honestly I am also never sure about handling oof parts of images. They can be problematic so often.
It is a dandy image of 2 Trumpeter Swans.
Cheers
Gail
Thanks for the suggestions, Harold do you mean if I got higher? then the HA would line up (even). Not quite sure what you mean. Phil thanks for your suggestion about darkening the whites on the back bird.
Jackie, I like the unconventional view - it works well for me.
Interested to read your comments on Avian - I tend to agree - and some there are very fixed in their opinions...:(
Best regards,
Nicki
