Default Texas Wildflower Blurs/Which is Better?

Both images were created with the handheld 400mm f/4IS DO lens and the EOS-1D MIV. ISO 100 (with Highlight Tone Priority turned off): 1/8 sec. at f/32. For the image in this pane the camera was panned downward at a relatively slow rate. I tried to time the shutter release so as not to clip any of the flowers top or bottom.

Same as above, only I shook the camera and lens instead of panning the lens downwards.

Which do you like better, the image in Pane 1 or the image in Pane 2, and why?

I like them both but I love pane #2. It reminds me of an impressionist painting and it has a bit more depth. Lovely:)

Vote for the second but I usually pick the wrong one. Like more defintion in the flowers.

I too like the second one better. More definition and depth.

I like the second one better too because it has more definition. Beautiful colors.

I pick # 2 for the same reasons as above. I'm also extremely impressed with the skills shown to produce 2 seperate blur shots with the composition so close to each other.

I'll go against the grain as usual.

I would pick the first one for the pattern of the colors. The second is more blotchy in my view. Not that the secon is wrong, just not the same. But ...

I vote for #2. Beautiful colors in both, but #2 has just enough sense of reality to anchor one's thoughts when looking at the image. #1 is just too abstract for me and no real place to settle my eyes.

I would agree with Mark and go with the first one as my favorite. I feel more fluidity, more motion in the first. This is what I like most about flower blur shots - not just the blur, but the smooth motion. Hope this makes sense.

I like the first best, Artie. I find my eyes flowing smoothly up and down and it's more soothing than the second which jumps my eyes around a bit:).

Artie, The second one looks like a painting and I vote for that one. Really nice colors and blur to it.

Artie, my heart goes with the second. I agree with Denise - it reminds me of an impressionistic painting which
    always makes me happy:)

Soo similar yet so different. The second one has an Impressionist feel to it. :)

Thanks a ton all. I like them both with an edge to the second one. The funny thing is that I created dozens of the vertical pan blurs and then at the end, made just two shaking the camera. I kept both of them! With the panning images is was much harder to get the flowers where I wanted them. More soon :)
