    Default Question for 7D owners/users...

I'm not going to do a poll but I'm curious as to how many 7D owners/users have done a micro-adjust on your lenses and/or combination of lens and teleconverters. Has it made a marked difference? And, I guess the most important question: does the Micro-adjust hold over time?

FWIW I've not ever had to do a microadjustment on any body-lens combination. The list of bodies includes the 7D, Mark III, and Mark IV. The lens list includes 2 copies of both the 400 f/5.6 and the 500 f/4, as well as the 600 f/4.

Agree with the others here. My 50D required micro AF adjust on every lens, so I anticipated the same with the 7D. However, my 7D is spot on.

    When I had the 7D I needed a MA of +6 for 400 f/5.6, other lenses including 24-105, 70-200 f/4, 400 DO and 500 f/4 seemed to be fine.

I just tested a Canon 100-400 on my 7D using the USAF test chart and it looks like I'm resolving ca. 120 lp/mm out of the box (group +1, pair 2, 15 @ ca. 35 feet., f8 400mm).

I spent an hour or so testing the 300/2.8, Bare, with a 1.4tc and with a 2x tc and they all came back to zero adjustment needed. I have not bothered with the rest of my lenses yet.

    I have tested a 500 f/4 and 300 f/2.8 on a 7D and both are right on.

    I've never had a AF problem with any lens/camera, including 500 f/4, 300 f/2.8, 300 f/4, 70-200 f/4 on 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 5DII, 1DII, 7D. The only lens I have trouble with is my 100-400 near 400: it is very soft and micro-adjustment will not help.

All my lenses (EF-S 10-22, 4/17-40, 4/70-200, 2.8/100 Macro, 3.5/180L, 4/300, 4/500, 1.4x) are fine without MA in the 7D. But I had my 4/70-200 fixed by Canon when it had backfocus problems a year ago.

When I got my 7D (early november last year), I had back focus problem using my 24-70 and 135L and soft pictures (didn't have the problem with 30d). I tried to micro adjust it until I was blue in the face but still couldn't make it work. I gave up and then I sent my 7D along with the lenses to canon. They calibrated it, it came back 3 days later and has been working perfectly ever since. As far as I can tell by looking at the micro adjustment menu in the camera, none of the lenses were micro adjusted, the MA are 0.

With the 50D I had to apply significant microadjustments to both the 500f4 and 500 f4+1.4Tc..
With the 7D & the 500 f4+1.4 Tc there was no adjustment needed; HOWEVER, the bare 500f4 needed +6.
