    Default Loggerhead shrike

This is my second sighting of this bird. I had seen one last year, but could not get close enough for any good shots. This one to my surprise was quite cooperative although it was never completely free of branches. This is a vertical crop from a horizontal image, I was able to remove a blurred branch from the bottom of the frame. Let me know what you think!

I first encountered this species at Eagle Lakes Park in Naples, Florida, and have only seen it at one other venue in nearly three years of birding in Florida. The species has a beautiful song if you haven't heard it. In this case it looks like you were dealing with some strong light and handled it well. The highlights would be attempted to be toned down significantly if I were processing your image. Nice crop.

Thanks, they do have quite an interesting song. The lighting was a bit harsh with no clouds in the sky around 1pm, but I was not going to pass up on any photos no matter if the light was harsh. :)

The oof branch in front is distracting , but I still would like this on my hard drive. Wouldn't pass it up either.

I know, I was hoping it would have perched completely in the open, though I'm just glad the branch is not over the head of the bird. I had tried removing it but was having difficulty once i got to the feet area of the bird.
