Okay, so this time I used an exposure compensation of +3.0 and totally blew out the sky. Lance and Alfred; you know what you are talking about as I think this is an improvement over my last one. I have not yet become a big fan of 'High Key' so i may fill the sky a with liitle bit of blue.
SonyA700, 70-400G @400mm, f8, 1/640, iso1000, ec+3.0, HH, bright overcast sky, bird was gliding on the breeze. PP in PSE8, levels, curves, USM. I burned a liitle of the top of it's head as I blew that out as well.

Hi Peter - :) much better - no noise visible under the wings from having to lighten or use shadow highlights.
As I mentioned sky blows out - but thats not what we want to expose properly - often you will have to make a choice about what you want to expose properly and let the rest fall were it may.
Love the wingspread and the looking down at you stare. A touch more sharpening to the eyes perhaps.
    Looking good!!!!

Big improvement. Exposure of the underwings looks good, and you've got great eye contact. Poor fellow has lost one of his primaries.

Hi Key all the way Peter !!! Go with the flow !!! Under conditions like these you will not be able to have blue and a well exposed bird unless it is lit by flash !!

Each camera will have its own sweet spot for these right around three or just 1/3 under. Lots of wind detail and face clearly visible, I think the bird is saying ...... "he has plus three comp" :) btw for these type you need the bird as you have it overhead, easy to blow the side of the head !!! Just experiment and come up with your best settings Like this one a lot !!!

The angle is great! It gives a great view of the underside of the bird.
