I was accepted into two juried shows recently. First time. I have to commit to print soon so I'd appreciate any suggestions. This GBH was intently walking on a ledge. The back ground was in shadow: dark but mottled so I did darken that in PS. Canon 7D with L100-400 at 400, 1/350 at f6.3 on tripod.
I especially like the negative space and I think the slope of the wall gives the photo tension.
Compared to many here I am not experienced, but would like to offer my view.
I like the space and the image idea. I would be happy with it. After looking closer I thought the edges around the head were somewhat too sharp such as under the bill. It looks processed a little. I would think the editing would not be easy since the bird is mostly back-lite leaving high contrast edges. But all of this could simply be because of the size of the image I see here.
It does look oversharpened on this version, I'm sure in the big one the printer will take care of that :)
I think the temperature is a little too cool, warming it up a bit would help.
