The spot-billed pelican is the smallest of the three pelican species we have in India. The lines of spots on the upper mandible is diagnostic of this species. A number of them were busy building their nests with twigs that they would pick up from the banks of a river.
    Species: Spot-billed pelican (Pelecanus philippensis)
Location: Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary, Karnataka, India
    Date: Mar, 2010
    Equip: Canon 50D, Canon 300 f2.8
    Specs: ISO 320, f5, 1/3200s, hand-held, from a boat

Thank you for taking the time out to look, and for your comments/critiques.

Ajit, I like the full wingspread, and a good HA captured too. That looks like a straw in his bill ( its so small ) Gonna need a lot of those to build a house. Maybe he's doing a thatch roof. Comp wise, I would add to the bottom, and take a bit off the top.

Love the action captured in this image and agree with Stuart's crop suggestion but I would also add some canvas to the right if that is possible to leave him room to fly out. Lovely lighting !!! Many thanks for sharing.

Very nice image and nice action captured.

I like the incoming pose very much and I like the light.

If mine, I might remove the bit of branch interesecting with the wing tip so there was no merge. Small thing really.

    Nicely done.
