    Default Florida Sandhill

Jim Neiger had a pair of nesting Cranes near his house. He fed the birds regularly and they were quite comfortable around him. This image was captured from Jim's boat at last light. The bird is calling out to a group of Cranes that flew overhead.

Beautiful light and BG. I also like the detail in the eye and head.

Doug, I like the lighting and the details. The open mouth and sharp eye make this special. The BG is very complimentary.

Doug, liked the light and the sharpness. Open beak always a plus. I am wondering if tad more room on top will make it better or not.

Doug, you just cant beat that light - absolutely stunning. Lovely warm colours, and this is really pin. Good to see a hint of the tongue, and what a killer BG. Congrats on a fine image.

    Hi Doug,
Nice moment captured. I like the evening glow on the image and the way the red eye stands out. Looks like the Mark IV is proving to be quite a good camera. I will have to wait for my big loto win to get min though:D.

    Take care,

    Steve

Very nice and sharp Doug, love the pose too. Pulled off nicely HHing from boat but if I were you I would crank the ISO up to 1600 or more for better SS.

You have gorgeous light on this SHC, Doug, and the action/behavior adds even more interest. The bird's eye is really striking.

I was a bit surprised to learn from your thread that the SHC are being fed. Just last week, I was warned by a fellow photographer that adult SHC could be dangerous, so I did a bit of research. The below link to the FWC website confirms this fact and that feeding the SHC is prohibited in Florida.

Glad you took home so many keepers from your Fla trip.
