    Default Green winged teal drake

40D. 400f5.6 at f/6.3. ISO 320. 1/1600s. supported by ground. evening light. whites blown in orig as well.

This one has been a hard-to-get species for me. I was getting shots but nothing with clean BG. I was quite thrilled to see this individual in the open. But that also meant he might take off at the slightest disturbance. So crawling on all fours through some mud, I was able to get quite close. I had to settle for suboptimal light angle as this was the only place with a little cover for me. Higher angle was also not possible because that would have meant giving myself up. Although feet aren't visible, this angle will always remind me of the situation. A few seconds after this shot, he walked down on the other side into the water.

I have multiple frames. Some with green on the head better....but I liked this head tilt and eye contact a lot.

Kaustubh, getting down and dirty had paid off well here. Good angle, and just love the colours in this. Overall sharp, and well done on capturing this before he turned away.

Sharpness, head angle and BG look very good. I wonder if a slightly higher angle would have allowed to see the feet more.

Kaustubh, I like the sharp details and the pose. Very nice BG and lighting. I do wish we could see the feet but do understand your situation.Nicely done.

Wonderful lighting and a killer BG. Excellent detail and superb eye contact. I agree with Denise it would be great to see the feet but that is not always possible. Thanks for sharing !
