    One from a visitor to my work last year.
    D3
    Nikon 200-400 VR @ 400mm
    F7.1
    1/60TH
    SB900 Manual Flash @1/4 (From memory)
    Matrix Metering
    Handheld
    Manual Focus

    Flash as main light - this was taken in darkness - Owl had been roosting in this position all day - hence I was able to focus before it got dark (It was literally too dark to manually focus)

    I remember the story about this owl!:)Like the pose and the whites against dark BG.

    Very nice Lance, color balance is excellent despite flash and darkness would remove the specular reflections, they look like water drops ;)

    Wonderful picture and great use of flash as main light source. Not that easy to do and this looks real good Lance!

    Habitat is a plus, nice job of planning the image as well - makes all the difference.

    Very nice, Lance. Such a great setting. I have never gotten an Owl in the wild so I am jealous.

    Hi Peter - there was a whole story behind this one - in short - this guy spent the day roosting in a shrub outside my back door at work - most unusual.
