This was one of those moments you never forget as a photographer......as this storm approached the herd decided to cross Lake Ndutu. The light actually got better as the herd approached but wanted to capture the entire herd in the landscape to give a sense of scale.
Canon 1D Mark lll with the 100-400mm lens at 105mm at f8 and 1/640 sec and ISO 800.
Roman - man - can't begin to tell you how much I love this one. The sense of place, the brooding storm, the formation of the gnu, the flamingos at the back. Dangit I need to get to Kenya/Tanzania! :)
To my eye it looks like it will benefit from a very slight CW rotation - maybe because the flamingo flock tips it a little in aesthetic balance for me as it makes the water line appear skew.
Great moment captured, the sharp contrast of the herd against the water and background is brilliant, very well executed. I know it's lined up with the edge of the water on the left, but my eyes want it rotated slightly CW.

This one really works for me. Also love the S-curve and love that the image gives you a real feel for the area. I kinda get the feeling the rain is coming from the distant sky and chasing the heard across the river. Nice job!
Roman, this is fantastic! terrific bend in the herd there, makes you wonder why they changed course a couple of times and if the guys at the back are wondering how come Bob cant seem to make up his mind!
The sky seems to push the gnus across the water, the image is very brooding to me, and it kinda makes me nervous. Love it.
