I spent some time with a dear friend observing and photographing this Goldeneye 3 days ago, this image doesn't have the best of lights, but I liked the pose. I look forward to your comments and suggestions!

The pose makes a keeper for me too. I'm sure you can get more detail out of the neck blacks with that wonder camera of yours :)

Not only is the bird's posture very appealing, but I also like the action of the wave in front of the bird and the splash behind him. Nice capture.

    Nicely done.
I really like the pose and action.
    Composition works well too.

I might take a bit off the top.

I like it, the pose is great and good sharpness on the bird and splashing water.

Good behaviour captured!! I'd certainly keep it for sure too. I'm wondering if darkening the shadowed parts of the splash/drops would better balance the image....but well done overall!

    Hi everybody,

Thank you very much for your nice comments! I just got my new camera a few days ago and feel like a child with a new toy! So I hope I will learn, as you mentioned Fabs, to make wonders with it, but that takes time, practice and good advice! I cropped the image a bit at the top, and tried darkening the drops and splashes like Dave and Daniel suggested, here's what came out.

    Thanks again!

It works really well. Love the repost Verena. This behaviour only lasts for a split second so you were ready for the action! There are so many image elements that are great but I love the little "bow wave" as the male pushes forward and makes the splash.

To say it as a nice afternoon is an understatement!
