Quick posting before I leave to put the kayak in the water. Little Blue Heron captured at the Rachel Carson Estuarine Perserve, Beaufort, NC. This was the first shot of the day. 40D, Bigma @ 500mm, iso 800, f/5.6, 1/2000. RAW coversion via CS3 and included a slight boost to Clarity, Vibrance and Saturation along with a bit of sharpening. In PS the bird was isolated and sharpened, ran despeckle and noise reduction on the background, adjusted Curves for a slight s-curve.

Hi Bob Good looking bird and like the look back. Sharp and well exposed !! Just wish you cold have worked out a dark bg like the upper part for all !! Light color bg usually takes away form the bird !!

Looking forward to the special perspective images you will be getting !!!!! ... PS work looks excellent !!!

    Bob,

Like the composition, the leaning and all. Love the species. Good HA and eye, like the looking expression - BG's can be a challenge keep em coming.

Looking good - agree with all of the above :)
The uppermost light line that intersects the birds neck is the part that bothers me most.
    Keep em comin g:)

    Hello Bob,
Although the BG is distracting you have the colours of the bird just right - they really sing out.
    Best,
    Nicki

Thanks guys. Something on the background. A friend of mine, a portrait photographer not an avian photographer, made the observation that the dark to light changes in the background nearly cloned the color changes on the bird. He considered that a plus.

Thought it was an interesting observation.
