hi bob - like the action and the fish is a bonus!!! Sweet late afternoon light as well.
Think I would crop in on the action - quite a bit tighter - some of the whites look like they might be on the edge. Toning them down a little would help.
Looking forward to seeing more ;)

Great action picture, the water path on the right can lead the eye out of frame.

Bob, there is a thread in the "How-To-Forum" on taming down whites. I have read it and found it interesting - well done.

Great action shot (I've been trying to get something like this for a year now) with wonderful light on the bird. I have to agree with tightening the crop so that you don't really see much, if any of that clear water to the right. The contrast of the mud behind the bird vs. that water is too much for my eye. If I saw only the mud.

I agree about the whites and/or I'm wondering if the bird isn't a bit oversharpened. The contrast between the bird and the mud seems slightly too sharp to me.

    Still, great shot and congrats.

I agree with the crop and the whites on the head can be toned down. It is a nice capture

Great comment from Lance and Jeff !! Do look in the how to !! Will get lots of ideas !!!

I like the action and overall feel. Exposure wise if the bird was with all all water bg you would have been right on with the compensation used, but with all that dark meter is going to open up for you and make it a bit over !!

I shoot in Av more than most but in cases like these with varying bg as the bird moves will go to manual since the bird will be in the same light but the bg changes.
