Along a major highway, in Hamilton, Ontario, this bird rests in trees waiting for mice to come out for some air., on this shot, I got out of my truck carefully, and walked back towards the bird ... once I got into good range with the 200-400, I just waited until it was ready to lift off for a lunch run, or to change positions., after about 3 minutes, the bird got tired of looking at me, and flew out to another tree, as expected, and a good burst with the d300 was fun to catch.

With the angle of the back and the downward pointing of the wings, you really get a feel for him rising into the air with each wing beat. I see a slight dark spot about 1/3 of the way from the right edge in line with his beak.

Love the head, very sharp image. Lot's of details. Did you get one with the wings up?

Super nice with a very surreal look to it. I like the focused look in the eye. There is a teeny tiny sharpening halo under the beak.
