    Default Mongoose 3.6 Availability?

Just saw at http://www.outdoorphotogear.com/stor...to-lenses.html that the M-3.5b will soon be replaced with the M-3.6

Any idea when this will become available? The weight and price would be great to know.

This head is under constant revision...like buying a cell phone - it's obsolete soon after you buy it!

    Pao--

John from 4th Generation told me that they are close to finishing development on the M-3.6, and that it should be available in April. Weight should be the same, and price should be slightly higher.

If I get something more definitive from them, I'll report back.

You are correct about the changes Joe but they do make improvements. I used the prototype head and john did listen and made changes. Each model coming out has had a significant improvement over the previous.

I'm using the current model and works fine with a 600 IS lens, can lock in any position. Best part about the head is its lightweight for travel and ability to mound an L bracket for Landscape use with a shorter lens. Easier having a separate ballhead but can't complaint about having to take less weight. Since using the new model have not used the Wimberley before I only used when walking long distances and traveling.

Looking forward to the new model !!!

The same site showed that the 2.3 was discontinued. Is this a permanent change and I need to look at either the 3.6 or the Black Widow?

    Russell-

John told me there are no plans "at this time" to make more of the M-2.3. He did not rule it out in the future, but certainly for the foreseeable future.

Both Jobu Design and Induro make a smaller gimbal head that take similar loads to that of the M-2.3.

    Hoe this helps!

I spoke with 4th Gen recently and they indicated its possible they could come out with a successor to the 2.3, but they have no time frame and no actual working plans at this point.

I really hope they do not raise prices for the M-3.6. As it is the Wimberley's pricey enough. And I hope they will introduce it before April 10 as my buddy from California will be flying in to Manila and I hope to have it shipped to his place before he leaves.

Just got an email from Walter at 4th Generation and he said they are on track for mid-April. :)
