    Hey Mike,
This is what I was talking about on my reply to you on my post............I love the shallow DOF/selective DOF on this one. I don't vemture out much below f16.............but after seeing your posts and others like it...........I will definitely be giving it a try.

Nice shot Mike, I have the same thing (dof) in mind for some orchid shots this next spring. Hope they come up as well as this one

Very interesting and attractive, as usual, Mike! Have never seen one from quite this perspective. Really works!

I do enjoy your macro work.....and really like the shallow DOF flowers. What really gave me a chuckle was to think that you may be more dependable at giving your wife flowers than most......with the intentions of photographing them. So.....does this affect the type of flowers that you buy or does she have her favorites......inquiring minds want to know:):):)

Hey Lana, I have to confess, and didn't mention who bought the flowers for my wife:DThey were given to here from her son. If I bought them they would have been totally different flowers:D

Here's the original color before I muted it, which do you like better.

Thanks, Mike. Still gave me a chuckle......I had visions of how much care and thought went into the selection. Flowers from her son.....how thoughtful.

Altho it's hard (for me) to resist deep strong color, part of the mystique (again, for me) on the original post was the muted color. This is so abstract though I think you could go with just about any color. Why did YOU mute the original color? You must have had a reason....?

Hey Anita, at first I thought the original color was to strong, but when I opened it up today it didn't seem to have the same intensity that it had when I first processed it. I also like the pinkish hue on the muted version. Thanks.

Mike, I really like selective focus. I hope to do more of it myself. The comp here is great. Re the color - I like the tones of the original but the muted one gives less harshness in the lower right quadrant. The harshness of the original over rides my preference for the color hue. So, I guess the muted presentation is overall balance.
