Hi Troy, You caught the Heron in a good position, nice lighting and sharp. The reflection isn't really doing much for the image so I would crop most of it out and take some off the top. Then I would add some canvas to the left. This would turn the image more horizontally. I like the splash...

Dave, I will try that for sure. Thank you for your tips.

Very nice timing. The left side of the bird looks very good, and I like the greenish tinge in the water.
Do you have a picture of the upstroke prior to this downstroke? That may have the bird in a slightly better light and HA.
A repost with Dave's crop suggestion would look really good.

Mark, yes, I have shots from upstroke to downstroke. This is one of the few that I like most with splash of the water. I will re-edit tomorrow and post it.

Its always tough which way to go regarding the reflection !! Looks like there was a little bit of wind which would make it tough !! Under those conditions would go horizontal and accentuate the forward movement Agree with Dave on doing away with it !!

As presented I like the splash, wing position is different and interesting, might increase contrasts a bit on the bird. Very nice image !!!

Like it as presented but want to see a horizontal. IMO, seems like we need room to fly out of frame. Nice sharp eye and exposure looks solid.

I agree with Daves suggestion on the crop. I like the light reflection on the rear wing and the splash.
